Head Of Warner Bros Games Addresses Hogwarts Legacy Boycott

Ever since the reveal of Hogwarts Legacy, fans have been incredibly excited to explore the Wizarding World themselves. But it has also come with a controversy that can't be severed from Harry Potter.

Ever since J.K. Rowling's tirades on Twitter that demean and work against the fight for trans rights, she's become something of a villain to many, and fans are still struggling to re-engage with her work as a result. Harry Potter remains beloved (despite its reflective problems), but J.K. Rowling's name on the packaging doesn't half make it difficult for fans to pick up Hogwarts Legacy.

And now, the head of the company behind the game has addressed the ongoing controversy. Kind of.

Warner Bros Games' David Haddad Comments On Hogwarts Legacy Boycott

In a new conversation with Axios, the long-time head of Warner Bros Games has commented on the future of the company, along with the many successes they have enjoyed this year.

He has stated that he's pleased with the fan support for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga earlier this year and the ongoing successes of MultiVersus - and has semi-responded to the boycotts that are planned for Hogwarts Legacy in the wake of J. K. Rowling's comments on Twitter.

Asked about those who wouldn't support the game as a result of J. K. Rowling, Haddad said "We're going to stay very focussed on the game that we built and the great job that Avalanche Studios has done. We want everybody that loves this world and loves these stories and loves these characters."

It's not exactly a helpful insight into Warner Bros' opinion (or lack thereof) of Hogwarts Legacy's boycotts, but one thing's for sure - it's not going to sway anyone to pick the game up.

Hogwarts Legacy Fans Aren't Impressed By Latest Teaser

It's not just the actions of J. K. Rowling that's keeping fans from being all-in on Hogwarts Legacy, as a recent teaser didn't do much to excite fans.

The teaser revealed a little about what fans can expect if they choose to follow the path of a dark wizard, but it ended up being incredibly vague and without much new to share with fans.

After the recent date pushback, it's not a good look for the game to reveal so little in a trailer, and for many, nor is it a good look for the company to ride the fence when it comes to J.K. Rowling's controversial attachment to the project. Who knows the impact that the boycott will have on the game, but Warner Bros Games don't seem to be worried. Yet.
