How to beat Stone Talus & Battle Talus in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Throughout Hyrule's sprawling world, you'll come across plenty of enemies, and The Stone Talus and Battle Talus bosses are just two of the formidable enemies you'll need to defeat throughout your adventure.
If you've stumbled across these stoney enemies in the game and are unsure of what you'll need to do to check them off of your list, we've got all the details on beating the Stone and Battle Talus variants in Tears of the Kingdom.
Where can you find the Stone Talus and Battle Talus?
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Stone Talus and the Battle Talus are giant bosses that roam around Hyrule. You'll often find them resting underground before they burst out to attack you.
As looming goliaths made up entirely of rocks, when attacking you, they will hurl these rocks at you at a long distance, even attempting to pulverize you if you get a little too close.
What's more, while the Stone Talus acts alone, the Battle Talus is used as a mobile fortress by Bokoblins.
How to beat Stone Talus
To beat the Stone Talus in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’re going to need to hit it where it hurts - namely, the large sparkling rock protruding from its back.
You'll need to do this by stunning the Stone Talus with an arrow, causing it to fall to the ground. This opens up an opportunity to cause significant damage to the enemy by quickly climbing up onto it and attacking the rock with a melee weapon.
Eventually, the Stone Talus will attempt to shake you off. If it does, repeat the process until you have done enough damage to destroy it.
NOTE: If you have the Climbing Gear, you'll be able to scale the Stone Talus much faster.
How to beat Battle Talus in Zelda
To beat the Battle Talus in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’re going to need to defeat the minions using it as a base first.
The Battle Talus will usually have around three Bokoblins riding it on wooden platforms. They can fire arrows at you, making the encounter a little bit trickier. While an initial tip would be to take them out with your own arrows to make the fight a little easier, follow the below steps for more detail:
- Getting to the weak spot on the Battle Talus can be a little difficult as well, so rather than being on its back like with the Stone Talus, the stone you need to damage here sits on one of the platforms.
- However, getting onto those platforms is much trickier than you'd expect due to the wooden stakes protruding from underneath.
- The easiest way to get onto these is to bait out the long-range attacks, where the Battle Talus will throw the rocks that make up its arms at you.
- When it digs down to replenish them, these platforms will then touch the ground, allowing you to hop on top.
- From there, get as much damage in before it shakes you off.
- Alternatively, if you have some Fire Fruit in your inventory, you can throw one on the ground to set it alight.
- Finally, use your Glider to soar into the air and rain down on the weak spot from above.
After beating these bosses, they will explode and drop several precious gemstones and minerals, that can be useful for certain crafting elements, or be sold for a high price.
