How to find cold resistance gear in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it is essential to stay warm when traversing bitingly cold areas. And while a spicy dish may be effective, dressing for the weather is also important. So it’s about time you found the Cold Resistance Gear.
Here, we’ll be going through where to find each piece of the Cold Resistance Gear in the game so that you can stay nice and toasty in the snow.
Where can you find the Archaic Warm Greaves?
The Archaic Warm Greaves is one of the earliest examples of Cold Resistance Gear you will find in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
After completing the Gutanbac Shrine on the Great Sky Island, you’ll be heading back toward the Temple of Time to finally start to piece together what is going on.
Before you do, you should explore the icy mountain that took you such a long time to ascend.
Close to the cave you exited from, you will see a tree that cannot be accessed until after completing the Shrine and using your Rune Abilities.
Use the Ascend ability on the overhanging bark and you can enter the tree trunk. Inside, you will see a chest. Open it up and you will find the Archaic Warm Greaves.
While it would have been nice to have these during your climb, they provide low-level cold resistance. Certainly enough to get you back down the mountain.

Where can you find the Snoquill Set?
While the Archaic Warm Greaves are good for the time being, you’re going to need something much more substantial for the colder areas of the game.
The Snowquill set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom consists of a tunic, trousers and headpiece that are all designed to raise your cold resistance.
While it seems the tunic can occasionally be bought from the shop in Lookout Landing, the full Snowquill set can be bought from the Armor Shop in Rito Village.
This is in the North-West of Lookout Landing and most likely one of the earlier areas you will be heading to during your quest.
While the full set is here, it can be a little pricey. So, make sure you have plenty of Rupees saved up. We’ve broken down the prices for you here as well:
Armour Piece | Price (Rupees) |
Snowquill Headdress | 650 |
Snowquill Tunic | 500 |
Snowquill Trousers | 1000 |
Now that you have your full set of Cold Resistance Gear, you can go about your adventure feeling nice and toasty. Just don’t forget to shed some layers when things start to heat up (trust me).
What is Cold Resistance Gear?
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, resistance is an essential consideration when traveling to areas with extreme climates. While some areas are perilously hot, others are freezing, and require you to stay warm.
Cold Resistance Gear is a garment that can be worn to maintain a constant level of resistance from the cold, as opposed to the timer you’ll get from eating a plate full of Spicy Peppers.
However, some articles of clothing provide a higher level of resistance than others. While the lower-level pieces are good initially for keeping you warm, you’re going to want a full set of Cold Resistance Gear to brave even the harshest of climates.
