How to revive horses in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is finally here, allowing players to jump into Hyrule once more. This time around the game has a bigger focus on vertical exploration due to the sky islands and Depths below ground, but you'll still do plenty of wandering on the surface, which is best done with a horse by your side. 

So, check out whether your horse can die in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, along with how to revive them.

Can your horse die?

Sadly, your horse can die in if they take too much damage from enemies, the environment, or even yourself. 

All the horses in the game come with different stats depending on their type, so some will have much more health, allowing them to take more punishment before they join the others in horse heaven. 

If your horse does die in TotK, there is luckily a way to revive them, which we'll cover below.  

How to revive horses

Putting effort into upgrading your horse  and having it die can be frustrating, but there is a process for reviving it and continuing your adventure together. 

Returning from Breath of the Wild, you can visit the great fairy called Horse God Malanya to revive dead horses. In TotK, Malanya can be found in the very northeast of the map, in the region called Akkala (marked on the map above).

When you come to the Malanya location, you will first need to use an Endura Carrot to lure them out. Once this is done, you can speak to them to revive or upgrade your horses. 

It's worth noting that you can only revive horses that you have registered at a stable, so if any horse of yours dies before that point, they are gone for good.
