How many dungeons are in Diablo 4?
We know Diablo 4 is a huge game, with a massive world to explore. Dungeons litter that map, with many spread across each region. Here is everything we know about how many are in the game, plus some information about their Nightmare Dungeon variants.
How many total dungeons are in there?
There are currently over 150 dungeons in Diablo 4, with them varying in size and importance. Some are only available to complete once and are part of the story, whilst others you can return to. On top of that, there are also mini-dungeons that are a singular room to grab some loot.
Players have plenty to do, and it's going to take some serious time to even put a dent in the total number of dungeons in the game. That said, there are even more changes that expand the dungeon-diving experience.
What are Nightmare Dungeons and Affixes?
Nightmare Dungeons is a feature in Diablo 4 that shakes up the existing dungeons and gives players reasons to keep coming back. Nightmare Dungeons are altered versions of the original dungeons, and to activate one you must use a Nightmare Sigil.
As the name might suggest, Nightmare Dungeons are much harder, with tougher enemies in greater numbers and even new objectives. They also have a system known as affixes, and affixes act as modifiers to the dungeon.
Affixes vary greatly in effect, one example given was the Hell Gate affix, which creates portals throughout the dungeon that pipe in enemies from different regions. The affixes, along with the steep increase in difficulty, will give dungeons even more replayability and challenge.
How to enter Nightmare Dungeons
In order to enter a Nightmare Dungeon, you need a Nightmare Sigil. Nightmare Sigils are acquired from high-level and end-game activities, so be sure to hold on to any you find.
Once you have a Nightmare Sigil, go to any dungeon you wish, and use the Sigil to transform it into the Nightmare variant. This gives players some degree of control over the dungeons and allows them to focus on the challenges they want to face.
