Longtime Resident Evil leaker lays out series roadmap, including Zero & Code Veronica remakes
Resident Evil has worked itself into a corner a little bit.
The series has found its perfect market as players flock to their classic series remakes, but it turns out that they’re starting to run out of games to remake that don’t vastly chop up the game’s formula.
Resident Evil 5, the next reasonable remake that fans want to see, relies on co-op and a more cartoony approach to action, that in many ways, goes against the atmosphere of Resident Evil that fans are looking for in the remakes in the first place.
But, there’s still hope that the franchise can turn directly to what fans really want - and according to a supposed new roadmap, that could be exactly what we’re getting.
Resident Evil leaks claim that Zero and Code Veronica remakes are coming
Leaker AestheticGamer has claimed that some big news has struck behind the scenes in the Resident Evil franchise, and it seems that fan hopes have been confirmed in the process.
The leaker claims that Resident Evil 9, the game that has been many years in the works at this stage, has been pushed back a little further than to accommodate for a reveal this summer as expected, and that Resident Evil 1 won’t be getting the remake it was hoped to.
It’s not all doom and gloom, though, as they go on to claim that Zero and Code Veronica, two spin-offs that fans have loved for years, are getting remakes, and are in development right now.
It’s a rollercoaster of a reveal if it’s to be believed, as though the Resident Evil remake has been hoped for a while (even though it’s already got one - it’s complicated), so has a remake of Code Veronica to follow Resident Evil 4, so with the bad news comes a smidge of good.
It’s exciting regardless, though, and any new Resident Evil game is welcome in our books. Let’s hope some of these leaks are to be believed because we’re starting to get impatient since the huge hit of Resident Evil 4.
