Secretlab Titan EVO 2022 Series review: Return of the King

It feels almost pointless to review a Secretlab chair in 2023, because the company's general ethos hasn't changed in years.

Their chairs are comfortable, functional, and available in a huge range of designs with a variety of crossovers - and the same can definitely be said of the Secretlab Titan EVO (2022 series). Simply put, if you're looking for a gaming chair, and have the budget for it, Secretlab should be your first port of call.

One of the things Secretlab has been steadily improving over the last few years is the assembly process. With a few screws and some careful lining up, you can put it together within 30 minutes solo, or with someone else in even less time.

Considering how awkward some chairs can be to assemble, it's nice to lock everything in. It also feels premium once it's constructed - not too heavy or bulky, but weighty enough that you feel it's worth the price of admission.

Titan, EVOlved

The Titan series has been around for a while now, and the basic functionality remains the same. You can raise or lower the seat with the hydraulic lever, you can lock and unlock the ability to lean back, and the armrests feel like they get stronger, and more adjustable each year (the magnetic armrest covers remain for easy swapping of covers, too).

In fact, thanks to Secretlab Skins, you're no longer locked into the design you get when you order. All of this combines to help you make your Secretlab Titan your own, and while I'm 5 ft 9, I know my colleagues who are over 6 ft 4 also find their Titan chairs comfortable year in and year out.

There's a dial for lumbar support, too, allowing you to firm it up should you need to. This review unit is the 'Stealth' Black colour option in faux leather, and it's certainly sleek enough to warrant a second look. There's a fabric option, too.

Thanks for the Memory Foam

One of the biggest additions this time around is the memory foam pillow. This used to be attached via a sort of 'band' around the top of Secretlab chairs, but the company has moved to a magnetic system instead.

It's certainly very comfortable, and there's a pleasing 'squishiness' when you push your head into it during those long meetings, but it can fall off every now and again. It's a small nuisance, and one you'll likely adjust to with time, but it's worth mentioning when a chair costs this much.

The Verdict

Secretlab's chairs continue to impress, with an absolute home run with the Titan EVO 2022. It's comfortable, looks great, and it will last you for years if looked after.

Minor quibbles about the pillow aside, it's an excellent chair and a worthy investment.
