Civilization 7 revealed by Firaxis for 2025 release
Many sets of eyes have been diverted in the direction of 2K ahead of the Summer Games Fest, as it made promises of a new instalment to one of its biggest IPs.
Guesses have been pouring in as the publisher said, "The next iteration in one of 2K’s biggest and most beloved franchises at Summer Game Fest on Friday June 7," and it's now revealed that the franchise is Civilization.
Nearly a decade after Civilization VI, 2K and Firaxis Games are teaming up to create Civilization VII, as the 4X genre appears to be well and truly back.
Civilization 7 revealed at Summer Game Fest
During 2K's time under the lights of Summer Games Fest, Civilization 7 has been officially announced, with promises of more details coming in an August showcase.
It hasn't been the best-kept secret in the world, as Civilization 7 was first eluded to back in February of last year when Firaxis Games' studio head Heather Hazen said that the studio is "in development on the next iteration of the legendary Civilization franchise."
Civilization 7 banners were also reportedly spotted on the 2K website a few hours before the Summer Games Fest but were quickly removed until the announcement was made.
Civilization 6 is widely considered one of the best 4X games ever made, especially after years of support and expansions, and the seventh game in this historic franchise will hope to kick on even further as we take a trip through history.
